Reconstructive Surgery
Restoring form and function with compassion, expertise, and meticulous surgical technique.
Restoring what matters most
Reconstructive surgery addresses defects and deformities resulting from cancer, trauma, congenital conditions, and prior surgery. While the goals of reconstructive surgery are primarily functional, the aesthetic outcome is equally important — and Dr. Gornitsky approaches every reconstructive case with the same attention to detail and artistic sensibility that defines his aesthetic practice.
Dr. Gornitsky's craniofacial fellowship training at Johns Hopkins provides a uniquely strong foundation for complex reconstructive challenges, particularly those involving the face and skull base.

01
Skin Cancer Reconstruction
Post-Excision Repair & MOHS Reconstruction
Following the excision of skin cancers — including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma — reconstructive surgery restores the appearance and function of the affected area. Dr. Gornitsky specializes in MOHS reconstruction, working closely with dermatologic surgeons to repair defects immediately after MOHS excision. Techniques range from primary closure and skin grafting to local and regional flap reconstruction, with meticulous attention to aesthetic outcomes.
02
Craniofacial Surgery
Complex Facial Reconstruction
Dr. Gornitsky's craniofacial fellowship training at Johns Hopkins provides specialized expertise in the reconstruction of complex facial deformities resulting from trauma, congenital conditions, or prior surgery. This includes orbital, nasal, mandibular, and midface reconstruction.
03
Breast Reconstruction
Post-Mastectomy
Breast reconstruction following mastectomy or lumpectomy is one of the most meaningful procedures in plastic surgery. Dr. Gornitsky offers both implant-based and autologous tissue reconstruction, working collaboratively with oncological surgery teams to develop a plan that addresses each patient's physical, emotional, and oncological needs.
04
Congenital Anomalies
Pediatric & Adult Reconstruction
Congenital anomalies of the face, breast, and extremities — including prominent ears, Poland syndrome, and chest wall deformities — can be addressed through individualized reconstructive planning. Dr. Gornitsky's craniofacial training provides particular expertise in complex congenital facial conditions.
05
Wound Reconstruction
Complex Wound Management
Complex wounds — including those resulting from trauma, infection, or radiation — often require specialized reconstructive techniques to achieve closure and restore function. Dr. Gornitsky employs a range of approaches, from local tissue rearrangement to free flap reconstruction.
06
Scar Revision
Scar Management
Scar revision improves the appearance of scars resulting from injury, surgery, or burns. Techniques include surgical excision, Z-plasty, W-plasty, and dermabrasion, selected based on the scar's location, type, and maturity.
